We started by electing leads and a group project lead which I was assigned as group project lead and game design lead (which I later gave up the game design lead as I thought it better to have James T as lead as he new the most about the game idea and it would stop me from having too much work to do and power). From their we started to create a list of things we would need to make the game from what the characters looked and behaved like to what the level sounded like. We then marked the one we that the most important. Next I created a Trello and had two of my classmates write the list down into the backlog, then I put the ones we deemed as important in the to do section of the Trello board. Next I set everyone their tasks and gave everyone the deadline of the coming Thursday. The art team was task to create mood boards for stuff like the what the characters would look like for example and the design team was task with creating flowcharts on how the characters would behaviour. The music team was task with getting sounds, sound effects and sound tracks that would fit the game.

This week I mainly created flowcharts on how certain characters would behaviour and how they would interact with environment. Like how the the the enemies behave and like how the allies behave for example I created a flowchart on how a healing mechanic would work for the healer which is an teammate. I also created a flowchart on how the enemy would move and interact with the player.

I paired people up on task with the goal of having one person from each group working on a task for example when it came to working on what the player needs I would put one person from the design team (me) and my job was to create a list of player needs then create a flowchart on the mechanics of that. Then I was working with Nathan from the art team and he would create mood boards on what the player would need and some concept art for it and I teamed up with Ben to create mood boards on what the sound effects might sound like. This was important because most task effect all groups like how the player moves will effect the art team with animation and the character model and how the that would effect how the player sounds as well.

On Friday I came in put all the stuff we had in review and went through it and when people were happy we placed it into done. From there we started working on our next sprint and talk with my classmates to see what we wanted to focus on this week.

Personal Overview

Looking back on the week I learned that I need to take accountability and do extra the steps to make sure that everyone one is on the same page as I ran into a problem in that because I assumed that everyone would have started their work by Tuesday I didn't feel the need to set personal deadlines or catch up meetings through out the week. This led me to reaching out to everyone asking for their work to be completed by the end of the next day. Even though I had good intentions I didn't account for things such as the art team having a lesson that next day or that some tasks were harder to complete than others. So I learned that its important to check everyone progress but also not to be hands on all the time, it was important that I don't overwhelm myself trying to get them to do their job and focus on my job as a project lead but also as someone who is on the design team.
