In week one we were put in groups to come up with ideas for games. The group I was in came up with many different concepts for a game such as a game similarly to rain world in its ecosystem but the player would kill animals and have to decide if they wanted to evolve into that animal or stay the same. We abounded the idea mainly because it was too hard to code enemies like the ones in rain world and the Idea at the time was quite large in scope. In the end we decided on a 3d battle royal set in our school building that was online multiplayer.
What the game world might of look like

We later did our presentation on the game and it made it to the final and how it work was by having the groups that didn't make it join the two wining groups and then represent the game idea again. We did face issues with the game idea where we were told that doing a online multiplayer game was not only very hard to implement but also it would require multiply people to play the game which is hard because the game requires at least 6 people for it to play at it best. This meant that it would have been hard to grade and hard to play test.
After some back and fourth and even me attempting to make a server by following a tutorial we realised that the game was going to be to hard to make. After that I wanted to drop the Idea and work on the other groups project which most people on my team did as well but after being told we couldn't we worked on figuring out how to make our game better I started by asking people to throw out ideas and so that we could build off it and after a couple of ideas we had a clear vision for our game. So we scraped the online mode and replaced the online players with one enemy ai and having five other ai that weren't enemies and made the game a horror survival game where you would have to fight off our teacher Darren using things around the building mouses, keyboards and pcs for example and these wouldn't kill him but stun him enough for you to get out of his sights. You also had to keep you classmates alive as you try to find away out as by solving puzzles that will help you escape. If Darren is able to kill a classmate he gets stronger.
There was different types of players you could play with different abilities for example the one type of player had the abilities to have quiet footsteps than the normal player and another player could do more damage than other players each ability had its own weakness to keep it balanced and with that it create different types of play styles like the hoarder who played a player with the ability to deal more damage so they would take all of the equipment to one from in the building and wait for a player to enter and then hit them with all they got.
A idea of how the different type of players may look from our google slide

We presented our game but we didn't win and so we ended up working on the other game which was called meridian.
Reflection
I learned that I need to better understand scope when coming up with a game but also recognise my limitations as I can be stubborn sometimes like spending 30 minutes trying to get the multiplayer to work instead of trying to find a better solution and also I learned I need to be being comfortable letting ideas go. But I'm also proud of the fact that I was able to lead to charge in coming up with new ideas to improve on the game with and removing and adding ideas that weren't to large in scope.
